The student-centered Master of Public Health online program from UMHB provides an engaging, innovative and interdisciplinary academic environment that empowers you to become a leader in health. This service-minded program’s mission is to guide you through the assessment of local and global populations’ needs and inspire behaviors that improve health equity through service, education and scholarship.
In addition to exploring biostatistics, epidemiology, population health and health behavior, you will collaborate with faculty who encourage your growth as a leader by focusing on management practices, policy development, negotiation tactics, conflict resolution, strategic planning and problem-solving. Upon program completion, you will be prepared to sit for the Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES®) exam and the Certified in Public Health (CPH) exam.

Upon completion of this public health online program, you will be prepared to:
- Summarize the key events that influenced the development of public health and health promotion
- Describe public health and its role in the prevention and management of infectious and chronic diseases, emphasizing the role of epidemiology and biostatistics in disease surveillance
- Evaluate the various individual, interpersonal, social and environmental determinants that impact population health issues
- Develop interprofessional collaborations to improve population health
- Develop community needs assessments; plan health promotion programs; design interventions for program implementation; and conduct process, impact and outcome evaluations of programs addressing public health challenges
- Design research studies with appropriate quantitative or qualitative data analysis plans while evaluating policies to determine their impact on public health issues
- Comply with the code of ethics for health educators and public health professionals and always practice using the highest ethical standards

- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Official transcripts
- 2.75 GPA
Review our streamlined admission process for the Master of Public Health program. To be considered for admission, you must meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university
- Official transcripts from all institutions previously attended
- A 2.75 cumulative GPA
- An interview and letters of reference will be required for all GPAs of 2.75-2.99
- For a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (preferred), we do not require an interview or letters of reference
